Job Description
Control Systems Field Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Control Systems Field Engineer to support the startup, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of control systems software. This role requires strong technical expertise and a client-focused mindset, with regular interaction on-site with both internal teams and customers.
Candidates must be open to traveling up to 75% regionally.
Qualifications:
5 to 7 years of experience in PLC, SCADA, or Building Automation Systems (BAS).
Proficiency in BACnet and at least one major control systems platform.
Experience in systems engineering or technical lead roles preferred.
Familiarity with industry programming languages and networking protocols.
Certifications in control systems software are a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide field programming, development, and engineering support for PLC, SCADA, or BAS platforms.
Debug, test, and verify control systems software to meet project requirements.
Configure software and hardware integrations, including gateways, meters, and communication interfaces.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software-related faults using diagnostic tools and system utilities.
Calibrate control instruments and fine-tune systems for optimal performance.
Support on-site commissioning and address client concerns during project execution.
Train end users on software operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Document project work thoroughly, including technical updates and progress reports.
Collaborate with engineering and installation teams to ensure full system integration.
Ensure compliance with all safety standards and risk mitigation procedures.
Recommend and implement improvements to system reliability, performance, and security.
Stay current with industry trends and suggest relevant upgrades or innovations.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of control systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI).
Strong programming skills (e.g., Ladder Logic, Python).
Experience with communication protocols such as Modbus and OPC.
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation abilities.
Salary Range: $75,000 $100,000 per year
