Technical Professionals Group is seeking a motivated, dependable and safe CDL A Test Driver to test vehicles and their systems for a global provider of commercial-duty automatic transmissions in Apache Junction, AZ. Successful candidates will test drive and evaluate pre-production test vehicles on 'real world' durability test routes/tracks, conduct safety inspections, perform specialized test procedures and document findings on driver reports clearly and concisely.

Test medium-heavy duty trucks in a wide range of testing conditions including engine, transmission and durability. Experience new technology firsthand and give feedback to the development team.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Safely operate CDL A test vehicles in a wide range of testing conditions. This may include electric and autonomous vehicles and right-hand vehicles, in compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) rules.
• Follow detailed instructions for vehicle and component preparation to begin testing. This may include but is not limited to full visual inspection of vehicle including tires, glass, body panels and interior. Checking all vehicle fluids, air pressure, and function of components.
• Collect data through various data acquisition systems and communicate in accordance with customer protocol
• Occasionally travel to various states to conduct specialized testing or transport vehicles. Must be comfortable with flying.
• Retaining fuel/toll and hotel receipts and expensing travel properly.
• Knowledge in loading and unloading vehicles, chaining, tie-downs, etc.
• Other duties as requested

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED
• Class A Commercial Drivers License
• 3+ years of safe CDL A driving preferably with endorsements
• Passenger endorsement (or willing to obtain within 90 days of employment)

SAFETY

• Able to drive safely in various conditions, follow policies and take ownership for working safely to avoid risks to self and others
• Minimum of 3 years of driving experience with excellent driving record
• Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity be drug free. Alcohol consumption not permitted 8 hours prior to beginning of start of shift.
• Able to safely drive in heavy traffic and adverse weather conditions.
• May support training of others on performance and safe driving skills.
• Document near misses, make suggestions for reduction of risk exposure and communicate all damage to vehicle including scrapes, dings etc. Participate in and support corrective action plans as requested.

PHYSICAL

• Must be able to lift 60+ lbs
• Able to sit for prolonged periods routinely exceeding two or more hours

INTERPERSONAL

• Able to work cooperatively in diverse & challenging environment. Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible and receptive to new requests.

Important considerations:

• Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity be drug-free and able to successfully pass a drug screening prior to employment.
• Retired or semi-retired individuals with Class-A license encouraged to apply.
• Prolonged routine sitting for 8 or more hours with the requirement to lift at least 60 lbs.
