Description:

The full-time CompTIA A+ Instructor is responsible for instructing students on digital literacy to enhance the skills that are key to preparing clients for advancement within their lives. This role will be expected to maintain a positive learning environment, work as part of a team, and be knowledgeable in a variety of topics including: basic computer skills and Microsoft Office. The ideal instructor will be able to judge participants’ mastery of material and create an appropriate pace of learning conducive to all students.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Teach students how to operate technology hardware and software and assess their abilities to use technology equipment and resources
  • Review course curriculum to ensure its on-going effectiveness and industry relevance
  • Maintain a positive classroom environment through building positive relationships with students
  • Submit completed lesson plans to supervisor at specified due dates
  • Evaluate equipment to ensure it meets the expectations of the business community and the needs of the participants with or without disabilities
  • Order necessary classroom and resource supplies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Facilitate live virtual instructor-led classes aligned with CompTIA A+ certification objectives (Core 1 & Core 2)
  • Deliver lessons using provided or licensed curriculum, adapting as needed to support learner comprehension and engagement
  • Support student success through formative assessment, feedback, and encouragement
  • Utilize a range of teaching strategies to support learners with varying digital literacy and experience levels
  • Maintain clear communication with the Education team regarding learner progress and classroom issues
Requirements:

  • CompTIA A+ Certification (current)
  • 1+ years of experience teaching or training in a virtual classroom environment
  • Demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts in accessible and engaging ways
  • Passion for digital equity, workforce development, and serving historically excluded communities
  • Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace for instruction
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Experience teaching adult learners or working with learners from low-income communities
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Zoom, and online learning platforms
  • Additional CompTIA or IT certifications (e.g., Network+, ITF+) are a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A mission-oriented, strategic professional with 2+ years of experience in training
  • Demonstrated knowledge with current digital learning curriculum and methodologies
  • Previous non-profit experience
  • Aptitude to work with individuals with limited communications skills
  • Experience scaling with a growing organization
  • Strong and effective communication and computer skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite, and web-based data management systems and applications for computer instruction
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven ethical behavior
