Overview We are looking for Hispanic ESL teachers to be part of paid research and development for the FUNetix ESL app called 21ESL. FUNetix Hispanic ESL teachers will use our alpha prototype 21ESL app, based largely on the FUNetix 12 Hour Reading App, to teach their Spanish-speaking students how to read, write, speak and understand English. The Hispanic ESL teachers will work in partnership with the User eXperience (UX) ESL Team and our Project Manager. Teachers will use the app as their template for teaching, but are encouraged to incorporate additional concepts and materials as they deem appropriate and necessary throughout the teaching experience. Google Meet will be used to record all teaching sessions on video. Special compensation will be paid to both the teacher and the family of the student. Responsibilities Use the FUNetix 12 Hour Reading App as the teaching template for the 21ESL prototype. Teach Spanish-speaking students to read, write, speak and understand English, communicating primarily in Spanish with occasional English as appropriate. Collaborate with the UX ESL Team and the Project Manager. Incorporate additional concepts and materials as appropriate during the teaching sessions. Record teaching sessions via Google Meet for research purposes. Participate in up to 12 hours of teaching time with compensation for both the teacher and the student’s family, regardless of the number of modules completed. Qualifications Native Spanish speakers or those with exceptional proficiency in Spanish. Experience with virtual teaching or remote collaboration preferred. Willingness to work in a virtual environment using networking and communication tools and platforms. Ability to communicate in the student’s native language (Spanish) most of the time, with English used as appropriate.
