Job Description

Indian Hills Country Club in Marietta GA is looking for an experience Golf Course Superintendent to plan and supervise of the maintenance of our 27-hole golf course and assure that it is in the finest possible playing condition at all times regardless of the season. 

About Us:

Indian Hills Country Club is family-oriented private club located in East Cobb County. The club features 27 holes of golf, open seven days per week, with extensive practice facilities. There are also six tennis courts, six designated pickleball courts, three swimming pools, and a beautiful clubhouse featuring excellent dining and year-round social events.

Duties:


  1. Schedules and supervises all maintenance and special projects at the Club.

  2. Maintains all facilities and grounds of the Club including clubhouse, tennis courts, pickleball courts, golf course, and driving range. Grounds include trees, shrubs, turf, flowers, and physical structures of the Club.

  3. Supervises all repairs and maintenance of golf course equipment.

  4. Supervises all personnel assigned to golf course maintenance. (This includes hiring and firing of all employees with the General Manager and Director of Agronomy's approval.)

  5. Keeps accurate records of rainfall, temperature, daily work schedules, chemical and fertilizer applications, gasoline usage, and inventory.

  6. Represents the Club at member functions in a positive and professional manner, when required.

  7. Plays golf, as required, to evaluate the golf course from a player's point of view.

  8. Budgets all expenses for department and monitors budget daily assure that money spent does not exceed budget without prior approval.

  9. Works with other Club professionals and personnel to assure the overall success of the Club.

  10. Is thoroughly familiar with, enforces, and follows company and Club policies and procedures as they now exist or are amended from time to time. 

  11. Mentor and actively develop the Assistant Superintendent to ensure they are prepared to assume a Golf Course Superintendent role, whether for advancement within the organization or for opportunities elsewhere.

  12. Does any other task assigned or requested from time to time.

This position requires a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of agronomy, chemical application, knowledge of trees and flowers, golf course design, irrigation, construction, and operation/maintenance of large and small equipment. In addition, this position requires good knowledge of maintenance and operation of buildings, and tennis and pickleball courts.

This position requires excellent management skills and the ability to lead by example; proven ability to mentor and develop team members for career advancement; good written and verbal communication skills; good mechanical and civic engineering skills; and thorough knowledge of the game of golf. This position requires the employee to have sufficient proficiency in spoken and written English to communicate effectively with members and guests to ensure that service is provided to them in a professional and responsive manner, and to communicate with co-workers to ensure that job responsibilities are performed in an efficient, effective and safe manner.

Education, Experience, and Training:

This position requires a degree in agronomy, turf management, or golf course management from a four year college or university with a minimum of four years golf course work experience, and two of those four years in the position of an assistant golf course superintendent; or an associate degree in agronomy or golf course management and six years of golf course work experience, with two of the six years’ experience as an assistant golf course superintendent.

Additional Requirements:

The flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential. The candidate must be determined to be fully qualified to operate a motor vehicle on company business.
