Function as a member of the sterile team in donning gown and gloves, creating and maintaining a sterile field, and issuing instruments to surgeons. Ensure adherence to Hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.Detailed responsibilities:* ASSESSMENT - Complete designated portion of obstetrics triage records; relate findings and co-signs assessment with RN* PATIENT CARE - Perform basic invasive procedures to include blood draws and catheterizations; assist in deliveries* PATIENT CARE - Assist with complicated procedures to include amniocentesis, PBS and emergency cesarean section scrub; set up/clean delivery rooms; prepare and drape patient and operating area; prepare and maintain sterile field for surgical procedures* PATIENT CARE - Provide basic patient care and make rounds; report and record any changes observed in patient behavior or condition, or unusual incidents* SPECIMENS - Assist in maintenance and care of specimens; prepare specimens for laboratory analysis; transport specimens to appropriate departments as needed*
