General Summary & Scope The Regional Vice President (RVP) is responsible for leading through Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values to develop high performing teams that consistently deliver top-line sales growth. As an experienced multi-unit leader with advanced knowledge of the retail industry and store operations, the RVP leads a team of 10+ District Managers (DMs) and 100+ stores. This leader ensures company priorities and objectives are clearly defined, understood, and executed in order to create a consistent brand experience. The RVP plays a critical role in building a strong infrastructure in a rapidly evolving business through a focus on performance (sales, service, and expense control), people (talent acquisition, training, and development), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards) for the region. This position requires a passion for process excellence, a drive for results, and the ability to proactively work collaboratively across all levels of the organization. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Job Functions) The RVP is a champion of Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, and should demonstrate them skillfully and consistently by performing the following duties and responsibilities of the position (as well as all other projects/duties as assigned): Performance Provide directional leadership, expectations, and priorities derived from the company’s strategic plan to the region. Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed organizational goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), payroll, retail shrink, and omni-channel sales as set by Ulta Beauty for the region. Build a consistent focus on the brand experience through exceptional service and the guest loyalty program. Review and analyze financial and/or operational reports regularly for the region, and initiate and provide timely responses as needed. Address underperforming metrics or districts and create an action plan to drive the business to achieve Ulta Beauty’s goals and drive company profitability. People Attract, hire, train, and retain a diverse team of top talent, and efficiently address any staffing needs in the region. Prepare for future growth by coaching and developing direct reports and succession planning. Engage and influence direct reports to achieve peak productivity and performance. Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to assess and grow the business. Process Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards. Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with all of Ulta Beauty’s merchandising, visual, and operational standards and updates to maintain brand consistency across the chain. Regularly visit stores in the region and meet with DMs and Senior DMs. Lead change by bringing company initiatives to life and guiding the team through the change-curve. Monitor industry trends and identify new operational business opportunities to continuously simplify operational processes and improve the guest experience. Continuously analyze performance relative to operational compliance, including shrink and Loss Prevention audits. Develop strategies to leverage company tools to improve and meet Ulta Beauty’s expectations for the region. Swiftly react to the changing needs of the business with an entrepreneurial spirit and inspire direct reports to do the same. Regularly communicate with and provide feedback to field and corporate leadership on business trends and opportunities, operational challenges, merchandise needs, and competitive landscape for the region. Job Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience is preferred Experience Fast-paced, high volume, multi-unit retail management experience Financial management: success with driving top-line sales, interpreting reporting data and turning insight into action, managing budgets, and controlling expense Retail management: proven ability with achieving operational excellence, driving a service culture, remaining agile with changing priorities, and understanding and anticipating market trends Leadership management: solid experience with attracting, developing, and motivating top talent, influencing priorities, leading others through the change-curve, developing collaborative relationships with others, and accomplishing goals through direct reports Skills Exceptional analytical skills Excellent written and verbal communication Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining superior results Ability to react under pressure, apply good judgment in ambiguous situations, and be flexible/adaptable Proficient with basic technology (e.g., Microsoft Office programs and Apple devices) Special Position Requirements Ability to travel up to 75% of your time, including overnight stays Maintain valid identification for airline travel Ability to work a flexible, full-time schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to attend business meetings and conferences
