Hex is changing the way people work with data. Our platform makes analytics workflows more powerful, collaborative, and shareable. Hex solves key pain points with today's data and analytics tooling, and is loved by thousands of users all over the world for the beautiful UI, new superpowers, and boundless flexibility. We are a tight-knit crew of engineers, designers, and data aficionados. Our roadmap is full of big ideas and little details, and we would love your help bringing them to life. Hex has raised over $100m from great VCs and angels, giving us many years of runway and the ability to pay competitive salaries, offer great benefits, and provide meaningful equity. The Admin Experience team is building the mission-critical foundations that make our platform enterprise-ready: authentication, authorization, security, compliance, public APIs, auditability, and beyond. As a member of this small but mighty team, you’ll work across the entire stack, from front-end admin experiences to high-scale backend services, to empower some of the world’s most sophisticated organizations to adopt our platform with confidence. You’ll shape the technical standards for security, observability, and reliability while delivering features that directly unlock enterprise growth. A few of the cool things we work on: Designing intuitive, full-stack, end-to-end solutions for user-based and role-based data access (via mechanisms like OAuth) that feel seamless in a product that supports collaboration. Building secure, developer-friendly public APIs that allow enterprise admins to programmatically provision users, manage access, and automate governance at scale. Crafting powerful yet intuitive admin workflows for permissions, auditability, and compliance to give IT teams the confidence to manage complex org structures without friction. What you will do The following are examples of the kind of work you can expect in this role: Build features like claimed domains to enable secure, automated provisioning and identity governance across large enterprises. Design and implement a next-generation access control system — including role-based access control (RBAC), request/approval flows for admins, and tiered admin roles that scale with complex organizations. Expose these capabilities through secure, developer-friendly public APIs, enabling enterprise admins to integrate provisioning, governance, and audit into their existing workflows. Own full-stack product changes end to end from backend policy enforcement to admin-facing workflows to ensure these enterprise features are intuitive, reliable, and secure. Propose and implement designs for well-architected, scalable systems in collaboration with the broader Hex team About You 5+ years of software engineering experience. Hands-on familiarity with enterprise integrations: SSO, SCIM-based provisioning, audit logs, MFA, delegated access. Experience working in a remote-first team and strong communication skills in this context. A passion for technical collaboration, including RFCs, code reviews, and architecture discussions. Deep interest in the data space, with a love for shipping great products and empowering end users. A strategic mindset that balances business and product goals with engineering excellence. You understand tradeoffs between user value and technical complexity, and operate pragmatically. A willingness to make changes anywhere in the stack to land impact. An ability to lead initiatives while mentoring and collaborating with fellow engineers. In addition to our unique culture, Hex proudly offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched salary & equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible paid time off. The salary range for this role is: $176,000 - $220,000 The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we’re open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience. Our Recruiting team will be able to provide more details during the interview process. #J-18808-Ljbffr Hex
