Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This position offers an opportunity to serve as an Instructional Teacher in a self-contained elementary classroom focusing on Kindergarten and 1st-grade students with low-incidence disabilities. The role begins on August 19 and requires a dedicated professional to provide specialized instruction and support to approximately six students, many of whom use AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering tailored instruction in a self-contained setting, addressing the unique needs of each student.
• Integrating Assistive Technology, particularly AAC devices, to facilitate effective communication and learning.
• Collaborating with support staff and families to develop individualized learning plans, ensuring alignment with educational goals.
• Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching methods to optimize outcomes.
• Maintaining a structured, engaging classroom environment conducive to the developmental needs of K and 1st-grade students.

Key qualifications:

• Possession of a Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist 1) endorsement.
• Experience working with low-incidence disabilities in early elementary education.
• Proficiency in the use of Assistive Technology and AAC devices.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Schedule:

• Contract duration: School Year (NSY)
• Location: Aurora, IL
• Work hours: 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM
