Job Description
The Miami Marlins are looking for a passionate, data-driven, and creative Sports Analyst to join our dynamic Social Media team. As a Sports Analyst for Social Media, you will play a crucial role in shaping the team’s online presence, engaging with fans, and providing in-depth analysis of game performances, player statistics, and fan interactions. This position combines the worlds of sports analytics and social media strategy to bring Marlins fans closer to the team.
Key Responsibilities: Data Analysis & Reporting: Monitor and analyze game statistics, player performance metrics, and key team trends.
Leverage sports analytics tools to provide insights on player stats, game outcomes, and team strategies.
Generate weekly and monthly reports on social media engagement, fan sentiment, and growth metrics, with recommendations for improvement.
Identify trends in fan interactions and social media conversations to guide content creation and fan engagement strategies.
Collaborate with the content team to develop data-driven social media content, such as player highlight reels, stats breakdowns, and game recaps.
Craft compelling narratives around games, capturing the drama, emotion, and key moments to engage fans across all social media platforms.
Create and share visually appealing graphics and videos that highlight key player achievements and milestones.
Work closely with the Social Media Manager to create targeted campaigns that promote team success and player performances on various platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.).
Develop and share stories highlighting player journeys, team milestones, and behind-the-scenes moments that connect fans to the human element of the sport.
Fan Engagement: Monitor real-time game events and player performances on game days to craft timely, engaging social media posts.
Respond to fan inquiries, interact with followers, and foster a positive community around the team.
Analyze fan feedback to improve social media engagement and enhance fan experiences.
Transform Complex Stats into Engaging Content: Transform complex game statistics and technical aspects into accessible, exciting content that enhances fan understanding and appreciation, making baseball statistics fun and easy to follow for all types of fans.
Collaborate with the marketing, public relations, and digital media teams to ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all platforms.
Work with the team’s PR and communications staff to amplify key team news, player achievements, and promotions.
Assist with live social media coverage of games, special events, and other key team activities.
Trend Monitoring & Innovation: Stay up-to-date with social media trends, sports analytics innovations, and emerging tools to improve team engagement.
Introduce new ways to present statistical information and improve overall fan experience via digital channels.
Qualifications & Requirements: Proficiency in social media strategy, as well as an ability to produce timely and engaging content around live events and other notable content opportunities.
Experience in line producing both live and taped shows.
Ability to oversee and manage scripts, live tapings, and postproduction.
Experience editing with applications such as Avid, Final Cut or Adobe Suite (Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop).
Skill in the use of social media platforms, popular listening tools, and industry-standard publishing tools.
Familiarity with media planning preferred.
Experience with digital advertising is a plus.
Collaborative team player able to work with a variety of departments and different personalities.
Strong organizational, time-management, verbal and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to present ideas clearly and concisely in-person and through planning documents.
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and adhere to deadlines.
Coachable and possesses a positive attitude; able to handle creative direction/feedback.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule (holidays, weekends, evenings).
Highly self-motivated.
Suggested Education & Experience Guidelines: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, PR, Communications or related field of study.
A minimum of 2 years professional work experience in digital production, content development, live TV or related fields.
