The Medical Oncology Nurse Navigator is a professional registered nurse with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who offers individualized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers. Utilizing the nursing process, the Medical Oncology Nurse Navigator provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care throughout all phases of the cancer continuum.
Working within the Hematology/Oncology Outpatient Practice setting the Oncology Nurse Navigator provides patient-centered care to patients of all cancer types and benign blood disorders. The Oncology Nurse Navigator works as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team of professionals that includes, but is not limited to; MDs, NPs, RNs, Medical Assistants, Pharmacists, and Social Workers.
The Oncology Nurse Navigator functions as an integral member to the team helping ensure patients receive quality and compassionate care. Skills such as clinical decision making, critical thinking, effective communication, and nursing assessment and symptom management specific to the oncology nurse are necessary for this role.
Oncology Nurse Navigator/RN Oncology - oncology experience as a navigator or an infusion nurse required\n\nThis position is full-time 40 hours per week. Weekday shifts, with no weekends, nights, or on-call requirements\n\nQualifications\nBSN Required\nBLS certification required\nTwo years of nursing experience in an oncology setting, preferred but willing to train\nONS Chemotherapy / Biotherapy Certified preferred, or obtained within 2 years of hire\nONC certification preferred or obtained within 2 years of hire
