The North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM) is seeking a Workers Compensation Lost Time Adjuster. This position is part of the Workers Compensation Claims team. Under the supervision of the Workers Compensation Claims Supervisor, this role is responsible for managing workers' compensation claims where lost wages may be due, and determine compensability. This is accomplished by investigating files through a recorded statement, performing interviews, reviewing medical notes, accepting or denying claims, calculating pay compensation, assigning outside vendors when needed, attending mediations and hearings, monitoring and adjusting reserves on claims, handling and reviewing incoming mail, filing appropriate forms, and acquiring and maintaining adjuster licenses.
Additional duties include: Manages claims by monitoring and paying medical bills; determining and calculating various types of payment; assigning appropriate vendors; facilitating doctors' orders; overseeing adequacy until closure; maintaining computer notes, diary and contact with employer; monitoring incoming correspondence; concluding claims by paying PPD or settlement; attending mediations and hearings; reporting per requirements; and requesting settlement authority. Minimum qualifications: Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Over four years of experience handing workers' compensation claims; Medical Only and/or Lost Time. Why work for the League? Benefits: The anticipated hiring range for this position is $60,000-$70,000. This position is a hybrid position, with some time each week required in the League's Raleigh office.
