Data Center Engineer

Responsibilities:

Oversees the daily operations of systems and applications in the data centers, including hardware and software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. May participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Monitors and maintains the data center infrastructure and systems, including servers, storage, and network equipment, and oversees the installation and decommission of devices. Reports on the physical infrastructure, including cooling, humidity, and power.
2. Runs regular inspections of facility services and monitors group work queue to ensure the availability and reliability of data center services. Resolves or escalates issues as they arise, providing efficient and effective customer support.
3. Develops and maintains documentation of system configurations and processes.
4. Directs and mentors Data Center staff on technical aspects of their daily work. Provides leadership for small to medium projects.
5. Assists with the research and development of expansion proposals for data center hardware, software configurations, and facility projects. Designs and implements new enterprise technologies and services.

Skills:

1. Three years of experience in enterprise IT operations and related technologies required.
2. Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and patching Windows Operating systems.
3. Experience supporting and troubleshooting Cisco UCS hardware, required.
4. Experience with Dell
5. Experience designing and implementing data center environments including power, cooling, rack layouts, and cable management, required.
6. Experience with day-to-day virtual server management with VMware vSphere, required.
7. Experience with the ServiceNow IT service management solution, required.
